●Part1: Robotics and Remote Systems for D&D (Dr.Young Soo Park, ANL)

In this seminar we will introduce an overview of the robotics and remote systems (R&RS) technology from its evolution in the nuclear industry. It will address the limitations of the current-state-of-the-art telerobotics systems for application to heavy and unstructured tasks, in particular in nuclear facility decontamination and decommissioning (D&D) applications. Subsequently, we will introduce new technology innovations for D&D and other nuclear applications.

●Part2: Key Elements for Managing Decommissioning Projects(Lawrence E. Boing, ANL)

Various facilities will require decommissioning at the end of the facility life cycle.  The strategies available for implementation of decommissioning will be reviewed and the general steps in the decommissioning process will be presented and detailed.  Factors affecting strategy selection will be discussed.  Some of the key lessons learned to date by the decommissioning industry will be presented.  This seminar lecture is only a brief overview of the international decommissioning process.
