▣ Abstract :

The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) consists of five laboratories, three of which conduct research related to nuclear energy. Our institute conducts or supports basic research and advanced technology development utilizing quantum beams, such as neutrons and protons, generated by the HANARO research reactor and the Gyeongju Proton Accelerator. Recently, the number of domestic corporations utilizing HANARO and the proton accelerator has increased significantly in fields such as semiconductors, batteries, and so on. We also develop technologies for generating and utilizing photon, electron, and ion beams. Recently, we have been conducting research on the synthesis and characterization of new qubit materials for quantum computers. We also produce raw materials for various radioisotope pharmaceuticals used in treatment and diagnosis, and conduct research on the separation of various stable isotope materials for medical, quantum, and nuclear power applications. We are also participating in the development of nuclear fusion energy technologies, by participating the ITER project, and have developed high-power propulsion technology for artificial satellites.
