▶ Title: Social Survey and Opinion Poll -focused on social data analysis-

▶ Abstract:

A Social survey is typically conducted to investigate the characteristics of populations using standardized questions by examining samples. In other words, it is the collection of social data according to a survey plan designed for some purpose.

The collected data are typically quantitatively analyzed after coding and modification, usually by exploring the correlation between two or more variables or by grasping descriptive information about variables. The social survey is the most frequently used research technique in sociology and is widely used in government research, commercial research, and non-profit organization research.

Public opinion refers to beliefs and minds inherent in one's perceptions. Public opinion exists as the sum of each perceptions rather than their characteristics as proven knowledge. The purpose of the opinion poll is to evaluate various opinions and to know who has what public opinion and how long exists strongly and continuously.

With the development of data science, social research and opinion polls are also taking a new stage. In this seminar, we would like to explore the effective combination of existing social research methods and data science.
